WHAT DISTRICT OFFICE OR POSITION ARE YOU RUNNING FOR AND WHY?

Fayetteville City Council, District 6.

I want to work together to re-tool, re-focus and re-ENERGIZE our city employees and staff, truly engage the public with just what the City of Fayetteville’s “CAN DO” attitude can DO for them. Let’s live up to the brand we’ve established.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE IN THE COMMUNITY?

  • Running my business, owning a restaurant near the district, I have served this area great food, great service, and because I was successful, I was able to support our churches, schools and other non-profits and charities.
  • I also served as Precinct Judge in my home precinct of Auman-1, Church of the Nazarene. I love doing that job, I get to spend the day with my neighbors, of different backgrounds and viewpoints, and I get to help voters.
  • I spent a month in the summer of 1995 working for our then Congressman Charlie Rose. I wrote correspondence on behalf of the Congressman, researched the 1996 Farm Bill, and various other tasks as assigned. I got to wear a suit everyday and had an official Congressional ID, I really thought I was something back then!

WHAT IS YOUR CAMPAIGN PLATFORM?

  • Returning Reason and Accountability to City Council
    • To begin with, Council members need to remember to respect one another, not just in words but in actions. Arrive at the meetings prepared and focused, be mindful of others' time and always respect one another even if you don’t like the words coming out of their mouth.
  • For my District
    • Advocate in the strongest possible terms, to recover our taxes in the form of physical changes. Those can be with things like playgrounds, walking paths, entire community centers, or smaller things like making sure FAST serves our district efficiently, or better communication with our neighbors about city services they may not even know existed to help them.

WHY HAVE YOU CHOSEN TO RUN FOR THIS OFFICE?

  • We the people isn’t just a catchy slogan--- it is how this country is supposed to operate.
  • We the People means it’s time that I step up and do my part, I have been afforded the opportunity and granted the education, experience and general mettle to know I can be an asset for my District.

WHAT ARE YOUR CURRENT AREAS OF CONCERN FOR YOUR DISTRICT AND/OR THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE?

  • Economic and Social factors are the disease which results in crime. Crimes don’t occur out of nowhere, getting the youth involved in productive activities, providing a path for opportunity and income would naturally reduce what we see in illegal activity.
  • We need forward thinking people in the right positions of authority so when we seek new opportunities for economic growth and development, prospects know that we mean business.

WHAT ARE YOUR TOP THREE PRIORITIES IN YOUR DISTRICT IF ELECTED?

  • (This is happening before the end of March 2022)- Opening a dialogue with the Police, EMS and Fire personnel who serve our district- get the ‘real deal’ from them on what works, what doesn’t and what can be improved.
  • Encouraging development of affordable housing- commerce and government don’t have to be strange bedfellows, look at the transformation of Grove View Terrace, it’s a gorgeous development where crime rates/ calls for service have plummeted.
  • Streamline communication from Government Services to the neighborhood--- provide help where help is available, and if I see it come up short, work to build the programs up, or expand what works

WHAT ARE YOUR TOP THREE PRIORITIES IN THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE IF ELECTED?

  • Keeping you safe in your home and neighborhood
  • Affordable housing for our working citizens--- clean and safe
  • Move the City Forward by bringing my Business Savvy, Knowledge and the benefit of success in 24 years of experience.

OTHER COMMENTS:

I’m excited about running my first campaign, I’m blessed to be in the position I’m currently in, both professionally and personally. I’m optimistic about our community's future, but it will require work to get us there.
